Danner believes McLaren should enforce team orders immediately.

Christian Danner has cautioned McLaren that Max Verstappen could potentially snatch the 2025 world championship unless Andrea Stella takes swift action. "As a competitor, Verstappen is significantly tougher than (Lando) Norris," the former Formula 1 driver stated to motorsport-magazin.com. "If Red Bull maintains the same level as McLaren, Piastri will have to contend with Verstappen."

Danner pointed out that Norris, who is 25 points behind teammate Oscar Piastri in the drivers’ standings, remains a contender but warned that McLaren could lose both championships if they don't choose a clear number one driver. "Now that things are getting serious, I have a strong opinion," he remarked. "McLaren is approaching this too softly and quietly - that's entirely wrong." He emphasized, "There's a fast train coming called Max Verstappen, so action must be taken now. The driver with the most points should be considered number one, which is currently Piastri."

"Apologies, Lando, but next year might be your turn again." So far, team principal Stella has refrained from showing favoritism, implementing a complicated structure known as the 'Papaya rules.' However, Danner believes the time for a diplomatic approach has passed. "If I were in charge, I would have made that decision several races ago," he said. "If he doesn't take a stand now, he may not be suitable for Formula 1. He must secure the title for the team."
