"He always enjoys a bit of leniency from the FIA."

Fernando Alonso criticized Formula 1 following a heated weekend in Singapore, where he had clashes with both Lewis Hamilton and the sport. The seasoned driver expressed his frustration over the radio after his old rival Hamilton, who was experiencing brake issues, was cutting corners and moving slowly on certain parts of the circuit. "I can't f*cking believe it," Alonso yelled multiple times.

He subsequently accused the FIA of showing continual leniency towards his former teammate. "Even if you don't have brakes, you still can't just leave the track, because we all have to stick to the circuit, brake issues or not," Alonso explained to DAZN.

"Although he gets a bit of tolerance from the FIA, hopefully today it will be a bit less," Alonso remarked, as he was referred to as "grumpy" by his rival Isack Hadjar during close racing.

Hamilton responded humorously after the race by sharing a meme on Instagram, noting that he had been handling Alonso for "18 years." Despite the tension, fans voted Alonso as 'Driver of the Day' for his impressive performance that took him from P8 to P7 before Hamilton's penalty was applied.

"It's a miracle," Alonso commented on receiving the honor, "because typically nobody pays attention to our races. Sometimes we start 20th, finish sixth, and the Driver of the Day is usually someone who starts on pole and ends up third."

His mood became more pointed post-race when Formula 1's official social media accounts shared one of his radio comments: "If you keep talking to me every lap, I will disconnect the radio." Alonso directly replied on social media, taking issue with F1’s broadcast coverage.

"With pole position secured for the private radio broadcast, it's time to refine the main coverage and showcase all the on-track excitement to the fans! Vamos!" he posted, clearly criticizing FOM for not highlighting his late-race battle with Hamilton.
