McLaren explained Piastri's actions.
On Sunday, championship leader Oscar Piastri was very unhappy with his teammate’s actions at the start and with the fact that the team had not reacted to them. A clip showing Oscar switching off the headset in his helmet while Zak Brown congratulates him went viral online — as did a team photo in which McLaren celebrates the Constructors’ Championship victory but Oscar is not present. McLaren’s press office responded to fans’ active discussion of the events, explaining Piastri’s actions. According to McLaren, Oscar didn’t hear or realise that Brown was congratulating him when he switched off the headset, because he had already powered down the car beforehand. He wasn’t in the photo because the team had not planned to celebrate at that moment — it was Formula 1 that provided the podium after the official award ceremony, bathing it in orange, and Oscar was at that moment carrying out his press duties. A full team photo including Piastri was taken later.
