The woman running for president is prepared to sue the FIA.

      We have already reported that the December FIA presidential election may be uncontested, because one of the FIA Statutes' requirements will prevent three of the four candidates from appearing on the ballot.

      All candidates for president must submit their slate in advance, including vice-presidents from each region. Among them must be a representative of the Middle East and North Africa, Africa, North America, South America, the Asia-Pacific region, and two from Europe. And only the incumbent FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has a list of potential vice-presidents representing all of the above regions.

      One of the candidates, Swiss racer Laura Villars, said that her team's lawyers are negotiating with the FIA and are considering filing a lawsuit against the federation, because the current electoral system raises questions and concerns about its compliance with the FIA Statutes.

      Laura Villars: "At present, formal negotiations are taking place between my legal team and the FIA administration, as the current electoral procedure raises legitimate concerns about its compliance with the FIA Statutes.

      Independent legal opinions obtained by my team also confirm that a number of recent procedural changes are inconsistent with the Statutes and should be amended. In accordance with Article 1.3 of the FIA Statutes, the federation must adhere to the highest standards of governance, transparency and democracy.

      All options, including legal and judicial ones, remain under consideration to ensure full compliance with these principles in accordance with the FIA's status as a non‑profit organization established under French law.
