Esteban Ocon recalls the most serious crash of his career

Haas driver Esteban Ocon appeared on a recent episode of the podcast on the French YouTube channel Legend. In it he spoke about the most serious crash he has had in Formula 1.

He was referring to the crash in free practice at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix, when Esteban was still driving for Alpine. The impact with the wall was so severe that the driver could barely walk and lost consciousness, but he still raced and scored points.

"I've had serious crashes, but, knock on wood, none of them were too brutal," Esteban Ocon said. "In Miami, in third practice in 2022, I experienced a 42G overload.

I'll tell those who want to watch the episode that there was nothing spectacular about the crash, but I slammed into a concrete wall. At the moment of impact I hit both knees and could barely move.

I remember losing consciousness the next morning while taking a shower. I lost my balance and fell, I felt really awful. Nevertheless, I was able to start from the back and finished eighth in the race. My urine was tinged with blood. It was awful!"
