Haas is preparing a number of technical updates for the US Grand Prix.
Haas F1 is preparing for its home round, the second of three that take place on American circuits, and will start the United States Grand Prix this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Texas. A feature of the weekend in Austin is that, for the third season in a row, the program includes a Saturday sprint.
The team will bring cars to Austin with a special livery and will also introduce a number of minor technical upgrades.
Aio Komatsu, team principal: “We are preparing for the United States Grand Prix with great enthusiasm, because at COTA we always feel at home. The week leading up to this race is always very busy, and on top of that we have a sprint, so adrenaline will be high throughout the weekend.
In Singapore Oliver finished ninth, and that’s great, but in Austin we must do everything to make sure both drivers score points.
We are preparing some small technical updates for this round, but since the weekend includes a sprint, we will only have one hour-long practice to assess their effectiveness, so it’s very important to work as efficiently as possible on track from the very beginning.”
Oliver Bearman: “It seems we’re building momentum with every weekend. We know we have a fast car, and since the team is preparing another batch of technical updates for Austin, I have a feeling we should perform well this weekend.
This will be my first United States Grand Prix with Haas F1, and I know the schedule will be very tight, but I’m excited to dive into the atmosphere created by passionate American fans. I have no doubt the race at COTA will be a highlight of the season.”
Esteban Ocon: “I’m glad to return to Austin, and above all that’s because I’m now a Haas F1 driver. It’s a wonderful city full of energy, and it hosts one of our team’s home races.
We know the American crowd will provide a great atmosphere throughout the weekend. The COTA circuit is fun but demanding, so races there are always very interesting.
After Singapore I trained hard and worked with the team on the simulator, so our aim is to perform confidently this weekend, taking every opportunity that comes our way.
I’m looking forward to returning to Austin, where our team will show a special livery, and I hope we give the American fans a reason to cheer for us.”
