A new show, F1 Grid Gigs, debuts in Austin.

Before the start of the United States Grand Prix in Austin a new show, F1 Grid Gigs, will debut, which the championship’s press office calls "a unique fusion of music and motorsport."

Formula 1 was inspired to introduce this innovation by the success of the February presentation dedicated to Formula 1’s 75th anniversary, held at London’s The O2 Arena — that event drew an audience of 7.5 million people.

The new show will feature both global stars and performers currently better known on a local level, and, according to the organizers, F1 Grid Gigs will make the period leading up to the start more interesting for spectators in the stands and for fans watching the race on television.

The Texas city of Austin is considered one of the world’s music capitals, so it is only logical that the Circuit of the Americas has been chosen for the debut of the new show, and the crowd will be entertained by local country singer and actor Drake Milligan, who is also known for playing a young Elvis Presley in the American miniseries about the legendary Sun Records studio. It’s also worth adding that the music videos for Milligan’s songs have amassed millions of views.

Before the race in Austin, Milligan’s performance will take place before the cars leave the pit lane and head to the starting grid. The next time the F1 Grid Gigs show will take place at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Emily Preiser, Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer: "F1 Grid Gigs will make one of the most anticipated moments of the race weekend even brighter. This new show was created so that fans in the stands and at home feel the excitement and a taste of adrenaline even before the race starts."
