Gabriel Bortoletto did not set a fast time in the first part of qualifying for the sprint in Austin because his result was disallowed for exceeding track limits.
Since, formally, Bortoletto did not fall within 107% of the fastest time in the first session, Sauber had to ask the stewards for permission for Gabriel to take part in Saturday's sprint.
The stewards allowed Gabriel Bortoletto to start the sprint in Austin from twentieth place, taking into account his result in Friday practice.
