Elkann speaks out to support Vasseur and unite Ferrari.
"I also want to emphasize the significance of teamwork."
Ferrari chairman John Elkann has publicly addressed the ongoing speculation regarding the Scuderia’s leadership for the first time, expressing his "full confidence" in team principal Frederic Vasseur and calling for unity within Maranello. Speaking at the National Italian American Foundation’s 50th Anniversary in Washington, Elkann tackled the increasing pressure on Ferrari following a series of unsatisfactory performances and ongoing rumors linking Christian Horner to his position.
"I want to reinforce our complete trust in Team Principal Fred Vasseur and in the efforts he is making alongside all his colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari - including mechanics, engineers, and drivers who are competing this weekend in Austin," Elkann stated, as reported by La Repubblica. "I also want to emphasize the importance of teamwork from everyone to maintain a high level of focus on the sole objective that matters - always giving our all on the track."
These remarks come as Ferrari faces yet another challenging weekend in Austin. Although the early sessions revealed familiar difficulties, Charles Leclerc managed to secure third place in qualifying for Sunday's main grand prix, providing a slight boost amidst growing criticism of Ferrari’s trajectory.
"We’ll be aggressive," Leclerc told Sky Italia. "I want to aim for a win before the end of the year. I still believe it's achievable. We’re in third place - anything is possible."
However, recent rumors have also included suggestions regarding the drivers, as Leclerc’s management hinted at dissatisfaction while Oscar Piastri has been linked with a potential move to Ferrari in 2027.
"Leclerc and Hamilton - farewell to Ferrari?" asks Giorgio Terruzzi in Corriere della Sera. "A revolving door at Ferrari leaves Lewis and Charles with uncertain futures."
