Gasly: I don't think it was possible to make it to the final.

Both Alpine drivers in Austin made it through to the second part of qualifying…

Pierre Gasly (14th): "Sprint weekends are always tense, and Saturday was no exception. I had a decent sprint, finishing 10th. The first corner on the opening lap turned into a proper melee, where I just had to survive to avoid a crash. The car lacked pace, but I learned a lot that should help in the race.

We also did well in qualifying. I'm not too happy with my final lap, where I had issues in the last corner, but we'll sort those out.

I don't think we could have made it to the final—at best gain a couple more places—but I think making it through to the second part of qualifying twice in one weekend is a good result for the team. Tomorrow we'll see what we can achieve starting from 14th; I'll try to take advantage of any potential chaos ahead."

Franco Colapinto (15th): "A tough day and a tough weekend. It wasn't easy to find the optimal balance; the car was more unpredictable to drive than in recent races, which may be due to the conditions and the high-speed nature of the circuit.

In the sprint I had a good start, but at the first corner I felt a heavy hit from behind that led to a puncture of the rear-left tyre and effectively took me out of contention.

Between sessions we made significant setup changes so I would feel more confident behind the wheel. Some changes worked, others didn't, but it was a good learning experience that we'll use in the upcoming races."
