Helmut Marko does not blame Tsunoda.
On Sky Sport, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko commented on Yuki Tsunoda's results following qualifying for the sprint, in which Max Verstappen ended up first and Yuki only 18th.
Helmut Marko: “Of course it’s sad when one driver wins qualifying and the other is eliminated already in the first session. But Yuki couldn’t do a second fast lap and we need to find out why that happened, why Tsunoda went out so late and got stuck in traffic.
In that kind of qualifying you can’t count on seconds, you need to have a time buffer. I don’t know why Hajar was driving so slowly that a traffic jam formed. Tsunoda should have been sent out earlier, he quite possibly could have made it into the second part of qualifying. That’s our fault.
What should Tsunoda do to stay in the team? You always ask the same question. He has to deliver results.”
