Charles Leclerc: Starting on the soft tyres really helped me in the race.
Charles Leclerc finished third in Austin and reached the podium for the sixth time this season. He was voted "Driver of the Day" by the fans.
At the start the Monegasque overtook Lando Norris in the battle for second and spent much of the race fighting the Brit. Closer to the finish the McLaren driver did manage to get past Leclerc, but Charles was still pleased with the result.
Lewis Hamilton overtook George Russell at the start and spent the whole race in fourth. For the British Ferrari driver this equalled his best result of the season.
Charles Leclerc (3rd): "At the start I was a bit nervous when I saw that I was the only one among the leaders starting on Softs. But I knew it was a risky move.
I planned to take advantage of the softer tyres and get onto a clear track. Hopes were fairly optimistic, given that two were starting ahead of me, but I made up one position, and that helped me a lot in the race.
I'm very pleased with the result, as we've been having a very difficult second half of the season. I returned to the podium after a difficult first practice and gearbox problems – we bounced back really well, so I'm happy.
The battle with Lando? I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I gave way closer to the finish, but it was still fun to fight."
Lewis Hamilton (4th): "A good result for me and a fantastic one for the team. Third and fourth allowed us to score a lot of points. It's great to finish ahead of Mercedes and even ahead of one of the McLarens.
All of this is definitely positive. And I was able to regain a position after a poor start. So there was a lot of positive in the race. Of course I want to be higher at the finish, so we need to keep working, but we're definitely on the right track. Considering we haven't upgraded the car yet are still fighting, it shows the team did a great job this weekend.
I hope everyone back at base is happy with the result. We're on the right track, and I'm getting closer. Still not a podium, but I'll keep trying."
