At the Finali Mondiali there will be 18 racing Ferraris from previous years.
This weekend at the Mugello circuit Ferrari is holding the traditional Finali Mondiali festival, capping the season in sports car racing that takes place under the aegis of the Italian company.
One of the most striking items on the event’s programme is demonstration runs of past Formula 1 cars. All 18 of these Ferraris, built in Maranello, competed at various times in the World Championship, and among them are cars driven by Michael Schumacher.
These cars are now in private collections, and this coming Sunday their owners will once again bring this unique machinery onto the track — however, there will be no racing; everything will be limited to demonstration runs.
“At Mugello we will have 18 of these cars — enough to run a Grand Prix!,” said Federica Santoro, who is in charge of this part of the Finali Mondiali programme. “We put on this kind of parade for our clients who own the cars that made Formula 1 history. These are cars produced between 1995 and 2017, although our division is organised so that it can provide technical support to any single-seater racing cars built from 1970 onwards.
Later models are fitted with hybrid power units, so behind the scenes our specialists are doing a huge amount of preparatory work for the upcoming event. Everything is done so that our clients feel like real Formula 1 drivers; at the same time the aim is also to ensure maximum safety…
Because driving a Formula 1 car is an exceptionally demanding task, we try to help our clients learn it gradually. It usually starts at Fiorano, Ferrari’s factory circuit, where private tests are arranged for them and carefully organised, well-planned sessions are held — they even gain experience on the simulator.
Moreover, our entire crew works closely with the Ferrari team that competes in the World Championship, so we can provide our clients with any information related to a particular chassis.”
