Formula E: Chloe Chambers is fastest in the women's tests.
Yesterday, on the final day of the official tests in Valencia, the Formula E cars were driven exclusively by women — all the teams in the world championship provided their electric cars to their top female drivers. This year such tests were held for the second time, and we also reported that their duration had been doubled.
Both sessions were dominated by Chloe Chambers, an American driver from the Red Bull junior programme who races for Campos Racing in F1 Academy and, with one round to go, sits fourth in that women’s series.
Yesterday she drove a Mahindra, setting her best lap at 1:22.767, which is partly explained by the meticulous preparatory work carried out beforehand. This can be seen as another piece of good news for the Indian team, since during the main test programme days in Valencia their driver Edoardo Mortara was the fastest of all.
Second quickest was Abby Pulling, last year’s F1 Academy champion — she was the fastest at the women’s tests a year ago. This time she was only 0.064 seconds behind Chambers. Third was Bianca Bustamante, who raced in F1 Academy in 2024 — this season she competes alongside men in the British GB3 series. In the Formula E tests she drove the Cupra Kiro car.
Several experienced professionals from the full-time line-ups of the electric series teams helped the women prepare for the tests and looked after them yesterday, offering advice and warning them against mistakes. Chambers noted this as well:
"We worked really well together with the team, both on the simulator and at the Valencia tests. It was great that Nyck de Vries helped me — it was thanks to his useful advice that I immediately found myself among the quickest, which is, of course, a good sign. We did many short runs trying to put in a good time, and we also practiced starts — it’s very interesting and fun. I was simply amazed at how an all‑wheel‑drive electric car responds to the accelerator pedal!"
