The FIA has officially announced that Mohammed Ben Sulayem will run unopposed in the upcoming presidential election next month, solidifying one of the most contentious governance issues in recent years. A newly released FIA document titled "FIA 2025 Elections - List of Eligible Presidential List(s)" reveals that there is only one approved slate, which is the complete presidential list of Mohammed Ben Sulayem. No competing candidates can be found anywhere in the document.

The FIA report indicates that the only validated presidential list is led by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, with all positions already filled. This confirmation comes after weeks of disputes regarding the federation's updated eligibility criteria, particularly the requirement for regional endorsements, which effectively excluded all opposing candidates.

Fabiana Ecclestone, the FIA Vice-President for Sport from South America, is the sole eligible candidate from that region listed for the World Motor Sport Council. Since the South American position must be occupied and she has already aligned with Ben Sulayem’s slate, the opportunity for any competitor to submit a legitimate presidential list has effectively closed.

Laura Villars, Ben Sulayem's Swiss challenger, has a legal case ongoing in Paris, where she is aiming to suspend the election scheduled for December 12. She argues that the rules unlawfully block opposition candidates from participating. The court is anticipated to announce its ruling on December 3.

Unless the French courts intervene, Ben Sulayem is now virtually assured of a second term.
