Sauber wants to score points with both cars in Las Vegas.
The Sauber team scored points in three Grands Prix in a row — through the efforts of Nico Hülkenberg in Austin and São Paulo, and of Gabriel Bortoleto in Mexico. For the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix, Sauber's goal is to finish in the top ten with both cars.
Jonathan Wheatley, team principal: "The round in Las Vegas means we're back on a street circuit after several events at permanent race tracks. The team has shown good consistency over a number of recent rounds, returning to the fight for points. Now all our focus is on maintaining this form over the three final races of the season, because the battle in the Constructors' Championship is getting ever more intense.
We've worked hard, and in a number of the last races one of our cars has been consistently in the top ten, but the aim is to keep progressing and to achieve those results with both cars at every Grand Prix.
We'll still have opportunities to score points, and in previous years Vegas has delivered exciting races, so we need to stay sharp and be ready for anything."
Nico Hülkenberg: "The race in Vegas is unique — the city, the night race. There's a special energy about the weekend that sets the event apart from any other and makes racing in Las Vegas particularly great.
On this track we have to deal with a real test, because temperatures are usually low and there are a lot of high-speed sections.
Lately we've had a good run of top-ten finishes, and the goal is to keep that going. The fight in the middle of the field is very tight, so every point scored matters."
Gabriel Bortoleto: "I'm looking forward to getting back on track. The round in Brazil was particularly tough, but I learned from it, got some rest and now I'm ready to continue.
The Las Vegas track is new to me, and I'm curious how the upcoming round will unfold, especially given that it will be at night and in low temperatures. We're in for a completely different challenge, so I want to get up to speed on the circuit as quickly as possible and make the most of every opportunity.
My goal is to get through the weekend confidently, starting the final three-race stretch of the season with a good result."
