Vasseur: It's normal that Lewis is unhappy with the result
After the Las Vegas Grand Prix, a frustrated Lewis Hamilton called the current season the worst of his Formula 1 career. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur understands the disappointment of the seven-time world champion, but does not see a catastrophe in the Scuderia's recent results.
"It is perfectly normal that Lewis is unhappy with tenth place in Vegas," Frederic Vasseur said after the Las Vegas race, before the McLaren drivers' disqualifications were known. "And Ferrari is unhappy with sixth place in Vegas. But our reaction to such results should be to work together and try to perform better at the next round in Qatar.
If you remember, Max Verstappen finished eleventh in Budapest [actually ninth – ed.], and nobody made a catastrophe out of it. We need to stick to that approach and try each time to do our job better and claw back.
Disappointment is normal. I would be worried if we did not feel that kind of disappointment when we finish tenth. We are winners – both Lewis and I."
