Bearman acknowledges his 'life's ambition' to compete for Ferrari.
"I want to race in red, I want to win in red."
As rumors circulate regarding Lewis Hamilton’s potential move to Ferrari, Oliver Bearman has emphasized that he remains focused on the long-term dream he has harbored since childhood. When asked about his former F2 rival and fellow 2025 Formula 1 rookie Isack Hadjar's advancement to Red Bull Racing, Bearman responded: "I’m very happy for him. He has demonstrated significant talent, and it’s remarkable that our generation is making strides with top teams, like Kimi Antonelli with Mercedes. I must admit, I feel a bit envious that they are competing at that level, but my time will come as well."
At 20 years old, Bearman was another prominent rookie in 2025 driving for Ferrari-powered Haas, with Ralf Schumacher from Sky Deutschland endorsing him as a fitting replacement for the struggling Hamilton. When asked about the timing of his own promotion to a ‘big team,’ he did not hesitate to say: "This is my dream; it drives me to give my all and energizes me every morning. I want to race in red; I want to win in red - it’s my life’s ambition."
Bearman noted that his one-time Ferrari debut in Jeddah in 2024 only heightened that desire: "I was fortunate to have that experience," he stated, "and now that I know what it feels like, I’m even more determined." However, he insists that the 2026 rule changes will focus on proving himself at Haas rather than seeking a promotion: "I want 2026 to be a strong year, especially for my team. As for the rest, I have no control. I feel prepared for whatever lies ahead. Next year, with gained experience, I want to showcase that even more. To everyone."
Looking back on his first full F1 season, Bearman reflected that the greatest surprise was not the speed, but the lifestyle: "A year as a full-time driver is completely different. You have to learn how to manage your energy." Despite impressing in 2025, he acknowledges that he made some "stupid" mistakes. "But every experience helped me learn. For instance, Australia was a dreadful start - not the ideal way to begin as a rookie. Then there was Silverstone - my home race - another foolish mistake. However, after that, I believe I improved significantly. I learned a valuable lesson."
