Vettel commends Marko amidst speculation about succession.

Sebastian Vettel has re-entered the discussion as the abrupt departure of Dr. Helmut Marko from Red Bull continues to make headlines. While reports from Sky Deutschland indicate that Red Bull does not intend to appoint a successor for Marko’s advisory position, the 82-year-old left the possibility open upon leaving. "My suggestion is irrelevant," he stated. "Red Bull decides everything. There are many names mentioned, but no decisions have been made yet."

Ralf Schumacher has since added to the speculation. In an interview with sport.de, he asserted that Red Bull will fill the open position. "An era is coming to an end," remarked the former F1 driver. "This applies to the entire youth program. There are rumors about who will take over, and it’s a commendable choice. However, I can’t reveal who it is. But if everything goes as planned, it will be quite sensational."

With ongoing speculation throughout the season regarding a potential leadership role for Vettel at Red Bull, Ralf's comments have reignited that theory. Simultaneously, the 38-year-old Vettel has broken his recent silence but only to address Marko directly. "I was just as surprised as everyone else," he told Sport1. "I wish Helmut all the best for his future and a well-deserved retirement."

He paid high praise to the individual who helped him secure four world titles, stating: "He is the architect of Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso's success. His influence extended beyond driver selection—key decisions about team structure, personnel, and strategy were also his responsibility." Vettel added, "Helmut can call himself the originator of Red Bull's success in Formula 1."

Former Red Bull juniors have also commented on Marko’s influence. Christian Klien, the first Red Bull-supported driver Marko promoted to F1 with Jaguar, shared with Kronen Zeitung: "This school was tough, but Helmut always demonstrated his ability to find and develop extraordinary talent." Austrian GT star Philipp Eng agreed, reminiscing about his introduction at 14 years old: "Without him, my karting career would have ended. But when I was invited to Graz for an interview and we arrived an hour and a half late due to a massive traffic jam, I thought, 'That’s it then.'"
