Vowles spoke about Williams' plans for the April break.
Due to the extremely alarming situation in the Middle East, there will be a lengthy break in the World Championship in April, which is related to the forced cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. James Vowles explained how this April break should be utilized at Williams, as the team faced serious difficulties at the beginning of the season. "We will need literally every hour of this break to regain our form by the time we return to the track for the Miami race," shared the head of the British team. "It is clear that at the start of the season we are not at the level we wanted to be, and during this period we need to analyze everything in detail and understand what we can realistically change. We hope that our production capabilities can be redirected without any losses to quickly address the tasks of improving the chassis efficiency. Some technical innovations may appear as early as in Miami, while others will come later. It is no secret that our car is too heavy, and during this period we must make every effort to reduce the weight of the FW48, but the approach to solving the problem must be reasonable. By the time the championship break begins, we will have already completed three Grands Prix, and although we are always short on time to analyze all the collected information in detail, during this period we need to figure out how to proceed. The break in the championship gives us this opportunity, and we also need to determine the programs we want to implement in the future... Our drivers will return to the team's base in Grove, and we will be working on the simulator almost every day of the April break. We will try to dedicate as much time as possible to this. Together with the racing crew, we will also work on practicing pit stops – we plan to conduct such rehearsals almost every day. In general, first and foremost, we need to focus on tasks that can realistically be solved and that will allow us to achieve the greatest increase in speed."
