Alonso will arrive in Japan later due to the birth of a child.

The race weekend in Suzuka will begin on Thursday with an official FIA press conference and driver interactions with the media. However, Fernando Alonso will not be in the paddock tomorrow – the Aston Martin driver will arrive in Japan later.

Fernando will stay home as his girlfriend, DAZN journalist Melissa Jimenez, is expected to give birth soon. And although Alonso cannot miss the entire race weekend in Suzuka, he has decided to postpone his trip to Japan in hopes of being able to witness the birth of his first child.

"Due to family circumstances, Fernando will arrive at the track a bit later this weekend and will not participate in the media interactions on Thursday at the Japanese Grand Prix," the Aston Martin press office stated in a brief message. "Everything is fine, and he will be at the track by Friday."

Fernando Alonso has a few extra hours to spare, as the team announced in advance that Jack Crawford will conduct the first practice in Japan instead of him.
