🏁 That camouflaged rally car Toyota has been testing quite visibly recently? Autocar reports from a source that it will be named the “Celica Sport,” featuring all-wheel drive (not a surprise) and incorporating Toyota's forthcoming 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the production model, likely enhanced with electrification to meet emissions regulations. This last point is confirmed, with Gazoo Racing's marketing manager Mikio Hayashi stating to the publication, “Nothing has been decided yet on whether it will be a standard hybrid or plug-in hybrid.”
🏭 Ford CEO Jim Farley recently addressed a variety of topics with Top Gear, particularly regarding the automaker’s innovative Universal EV Production System designed to significantly reduce manufacturing costs, time, and complexity. “No one’s ever built a car at high volume like this,” Farley noted. “A car every 50 seconds.”
🌎 Following Hyundai’s announcement of a 36-model strategy for North America, the automaker revealed plans for 80% of the vehicles it sells in the U.S. to be produced domestically by 2030, according to Automotive News. Currently, that proportion is approximately 50%.
🚢 Ferrari has resumed deliveries to the Middle East after a one-week halt, as reported by Auto News via Reuters.
🛑 The same Solihull, U.K. facility where Jaguar Land Rover had to shut down for six weeks in September due to a cyberattack is now pausing production again, this time because of a supplier issue, according to Reuters.
🚐 Ford has introduced a new Transit City electric commercial van, manufactured in China using a design jointly developed with one of its regional partners. However, don’t anticipate it crossing over to Europe.
