The road is being reconstructed in Buenos Aires.
Discussions about the return of the Argentine Grand Prix to the calendar have been ongoing for several years, especially after the debut of Argentine driver Franco Colapinto in Formula 1. A plan for the reconstruction of the racetrack has been developed in Buenos Aires, and funds have been allocated for this work. The plans include hosting a MotoGP event in 2027 and a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2028 – alongside the São Paulo Grand Prix, which will significantly reduce transportation costs. Organizers report that the reconstruction work at the Buenos Aires racetrack is 10% complete. The pits, grandstands, press center, race control system, and control tower have been demolished. In accordance with Formula 1 requirements, the track and its surface are being restored using special asphalt. In total, Argentina has hosted twenty Grands Prix, the last of which took place on April 12, 1998 – won by Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari. All twenty races were held at the same track in Buenos Aires, where reconstruction is currently underway.
