Vasseur: For our drivers, the team's interests come first.
During the race in Suzuka, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton fiercely battled each other for position on the track. Team principal Frederic Vasseur assures that such competition will not lead to collisions, as both drivers understand that Ferrari's interests are above their own.
Frederic Vasseur: "As long as both our cars finish, I am happy with everything, as this is healthy competition. Of course, I would like to see both cars ahead – one in first place and the other right behind it.
I am quite satisfied with how our drivers treat each other on the track – there is immense mutual respect between them. They understand perfectly that Ferrari always comes first, and they work excellently on the track."
In Japan, the McLaren team returned to the podium after two unsuccessful races, and Oscar Piastri finished ahead of both Scuderia drivers. Frederic Vasseur added that he never underestimated the competitors from Woking: "The fact that they didn't do well in China doesn't mean they weren't in the fight. They qualified close to us and fought.
Retirements or technical issues that prevent starting have always been, are, and will be. For me, nothing has changed."
