Leonardo Fornaroli has once again worked at the McLaren tests.
McLaren reserve driver Leonardo Fornaroli conducted tests at Silverstone on Tuesday as part of the TPC program behind the wheel of the 2023 MCL60. Together with McLaren, Fornaroli worked on a more advanced program than at similar tests in Barcelona, focusing on long runs with varying fuel loads and tire compounds. The 21-year-old Italian completed 68 laps, but the team did not disclose his best time.
Leonardo Fornaroli: "Another great day on track. It's fantastic to be back behind the wheel of the MCL60. Silverstone is one of my favorite tracks, and I'm grateful to McLaren for the opportunity to work there in a Formula 1 car.
Since this is my second test, the program was more advanced; I tried different setups and ran with varying fuel loads, which helped me better understand the nuances of driving a Formula 1 car. I'm very pleased with the results of the day; I continue to progress and feel more confident behind the wheel of these cars."
In 2024, Fornaroli won the championship title in Formula 3, in 2025 he became the Formula 2 champion, and in January 2026 he signed a contract with McLaren, becoming a reserve and test driver. Further tests for the young Italian are scheduled throughout the year at various tracks as part of McLaren's driver development program.
