Formula 1 has made significant strides in the United States, to the point where you can now experience a live Grand Prix at an IMAX theater. I recall a time when I had to add the "Speedvision" option to my mom's cable TV plan just to watch a sport that was largely unfamiliar to many Americans.

Beginning with the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, fans will have the opportunity to view select 2026 races at IMAX theaters nationwide. This initiative is part of Apple TV's new broadcasting approach aimed at expanding the sport's reach domestically. Anyone choosing to visit the theater instead of watching from home on Apple TV will enjoy a 150-minute broadcast, featuring 15 minutes of pre-show content, the complete race, and the podium celebrations.

After checking the local IMAX theater's website, it appears that tickets will cost about $30 plus additional fees, though prices may differ based on location. Personally, I think the best aspect of this experience is the chance to interact with fellow F1 fans, rather than isolating yourself at home. I've spent over 30 years as an F1 fan yelling at the TV alone, often during odd hours.

In addition to Miami, the following 2026 races will be available to watch on IMAX screens:

      Miami Grand Prix – May 3, 2026

      Monaco Grand Prix – June 7, 2026

      British Grand Prix – July 5, 2026

      Italian Grand Prix – September 6, 2026

United States Grand Prix – October 25, 2026

Personally, I won't be trying out the Miami screening since I’ll be attending the race in person, but I may consider it for another event later in the year.
