At Cadillac, they are pleased with the progress of the engine work.

In its debut season, the Cadillac team is using Ferrari power units but is developing its own engine, which it plans to use in 2029. Cadillac's project leader in Formula 1, Dan Tauriss, is optimistic about the progress of the work...

Dan Tauriss: "Work is ahead of schedule. We are currently planning the production process to have the Cadillac power unit ready for the cars in 2029. This is exclusively our project, all intellectual property rights will belong to Cadillac. Ferrari has its own engines, while we are developing our own within GM Performance Power Units. The team will compete with Ferrari engines this season and next, while we create our power units, and then we will stop being their customers. The current regulations for power units are gradually being clarified, we are closely monitoring the situation, and we are working according to the current version of the rules."

Currently, the FIA and manufacturers are discussing new regulations for power units that will come into effect in 2031. Tauriss was asked if he is concerned that multi-million dollar investments will provide the team with engines for only two seasons...

Dan Tauriss: "We are following the discussion of the rules, but much is still undefined. The rules may change before 2031, or they may not, but I believe it is important for us to see the Cadillac power unit on the Formula 1 starting grid as soon as possible. That is the goal. If there are ways to expedite this process, we will do it. But at the moment, the focus remains on 2029."
