The first penalty points from last year have burned out.
In the 2025 season, the FIA changed its approach to imposing penalties and awarding penalty points – previously, drivers received them for almost any incorrect action, but now only intentional violations are punished, while in other cases, stewards use time penalties or loss of grid positions. In the three past Grands Prix, no drivers received penalty points, and today the first points earned last year during the Bahrain Grand Prix expired. Carlos Sainz has two points for an incident with Kimi Antonelli, whom he pushed off the track, and Liam Lawson has three points for contacts with Lance Stroll and Nico Hülkenberg. Oliver Berman remains the leader in penalty points, but as the season progresses, their number will gradually decrease as last year's penalties expire.
