You’re not imagining things. An extreme version of the Aston Martin Vantage was caught testing at the Nurburgring, featuring an impressive eight exhaust pipes. As shown in the spy photos, there are two exhaust pipes typically located at each rear corner of the vehicle, along with four additional ones in the center.
This test vehicle, thought to be the forthcoming Vantage RS, was also equipped with an imposing, race-inspired rear wing and turquoise brake calipers. The front and side areas, however, don’t particularly stand out, making it difficult to discern Aston’s intentions with this design. The obvious speculation points towards an upgraded powertrain.

The current Vantage includes four exhaust pipes, two on each side, meaning the ones in the center of the car are the focus here.
It’s likely that those middle four pipes aren’t functional and could be an unusual setup left over from testing or merely included to mislead observers. It seems improbable that there would be a valid reason for having eight exhaust pipes configured in such an unusual manner—although I can’t help but ponder about which arrangement would be suitable for eight pipes.
Currently, the Vantage is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers between 656 and 670 horsepower, depending on specifications, along with 590 pound-feet of torque. The AMG-sourced engine can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 202 mph.
