Red Bull tested a rear wing in the style of Ferrari.
This week, the Red Bull Racing team held a filming day at Silverstone, during which Max Verstappen tested new features prepared for the Miami Grand Prix. Among them was a new rear wing, the idea of which was borrowed from Ferrari.
The team from Milton Keynes fitted their version of the "Macarena" on the RB22 – this is what the rear wing of Scuderia is called in the paddock, whose upper surface rotates 180 degrees around its axis when Straight Mode is activated. In theory, this solution should provide greater maximum speed on straights due to its configuration.
Experts analyzed the photos of the RB22 taken in Silverstone that appeared on social media and concluded that, unlike Ferrari's solution for the SF-26, Red Bull chose a different layout.
The opening mechanism is located in the central part of the rear wing, rather than being integrated into the end plates. The team also added additional flaps to the end plates, aimed at improving airflow management and reducing turbulence.
At this point, it remains unclear whether Red Bull Racing will fit the "Macarena" on the cars of Max Verstappen and Isaac Hajar in Miami.
