Jos Verstappen was involved in a serious accident on the rally track.
This weekend, Jos Verstappen was competing in the Rallye des Wallonie, the fourth stage of the Belgian Rally Championship, but he was involved in an accident, and it was quite serious. The incident occurred this morning on the very first stage of the final day of the competition: Jos was unable to keep his Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 on the track, and the car went off the road and rolled over.
The race direction officially confirmed that the incident led to the crew's retirement from the distance and published a photo showing that not much was left of the car.
Fortunately, Verstappen Sr. and his new co-driver, Jasper Vermuelen, were not injured. In any case, the crew was not in contention for a high result, as they had previously received a 40-second penalty for speeding on a public road while heading to the next special stage.
