A gloomy day in Monaco for Jean Alesi

Jean Alesi's troubles at the Historic Monaco Grand Prix continue – today he was unable to start the D Series race, which features Formula 1 cars from 1966-1972.

The former Ferrari driver’s problems began on Friday when he crashed a unique car, created in Maranello for the 1969 World Championship – the 312/69, which was once driven by Chris Amon. However, the experienced mechanics of the German team Methusalem Racing, specializing in the restoration of historic racing cars, managed to repair this Ferrari, and on Saturday Alesi sincerely thanked them: “Thank you to my fantastic team! See you tomorrow!”

However, on Sunday he found himself among those who could not start the race – a serious malfunction was discovered in the car built nearly 60 years ago, and Alesi didn’t even make it out of the pit lane of the classic city circuit.

By the way, New Zealander Chris Amon, at the 1969 Monaco Grand Prix, although he qualified second in this car, also did not finish the race – the gearbox failed, which happened quite often in those days.

“A gloomy day for Jean Alesi and the Methusalem Racing team, as he could not participate in the D Series race, even though after the crash on Friday, the mechanics completely repaired the Ferrari 312,” the press service of the Automobile Club of Monaco reported on their social media pages.
