The Chinese automotive powerhouse BYD has affirmed that it is currently engaged in discussions regarding a possible entry into Formula 1. With rising speculation that the brand could become the 12th team in the future, executive vice president Stella Li disclosed that there have been direct conversations with the sport's leadership. "We met Stefano Domenicali in Shanghai. We maintain a close relationship and stay in contact," she mentioned to Sport Mediaset. "I have an affinity for Formula 1 because it embodies passion, culture, and inspires dreams of participation. Yes, it’s a topic we’re exploring." Li also emphasized the technical advantages of participating in the championship. "It’s a genuine opportunity to test our technology." In recent weeks, BYD, the leading manufacturer of electric vehicles globally, has been increasingly associated with Formula 1, exploring various potential avenues for entry. These options are thought to include establishing a new team, acquiring or partnering with an existing team such as Racing Bulls, or entering as a power unit supplier.
