Mansell disagrees with Domenicali and criticizes the regulations.
Last week, Stefano Domenicali gave an interview that sparked mixed reactions from the racing community. In particular, the president and CEO of Formula 1 stated that there are no problems with the new regulations, and discussions about the "artificiality" of overtakes are unfounded. Nigel Mansell disagrees with Domenicali. Speaking with the British press, the 1992 world champion described the situation where a computer decides for the driver how much power is available to him at any given moment as unnatural. "I might get shot for saying this, but unfortunately, some overtakes have become completely fake," Mansell says. "I mean, some overtakes are still magnificent, but then the driver exits the corner, and another car zooms past simply because the computer delivered extra power at the wrong moment. Obviously, the driver does not control such things. I think Lando Norris said he didn't want to overtake Lewis Hamilton at the first corner and in the chicane, but he had no choice. And then, on the exit from the corner, on the next straight, Lewis just drove past him. You have to be very careful with your statements, and you can forget what I'm saying, I don't care, but I know that a huge number of fans around the world are very unhappy. And to be fair, I agree with them."
