George Russell: The title is not won in one weekend.
George Russell arrived in Miami, trailing nine points in the drivers' standings behind his teammate Kimi Antonelli. Before the start of the fourth round of the season, the Mercedes driver clearly outlined his goals for the weekend – to start from pole, win the sprint, and the Sunday race.
George Russell: "This weekend, I set myself the goal of trying to start from pole, win the sprint, and the main race.
Last weekend's sprint in China went quite well until various problems started to arise during the weekend. This season, there hasn't been a single weekend that went the way I needed it to – certain circumstances affected the results.
If the safety car had come out at a different moment in Japan, if it weren't for certain issues during the race, losing position to Charles Leclerc, the result would have been different. Japan was one of those races that just doesn't go your way, and those happen every season.
The titles I fought for in my youth were not won in just one weekend. There are weekends when the car breaks down, when incidents happen, and when you just have bad luck. The same was true for the guys who fought for the title last year.
Difficult weekends will always be there, and I hope they end with either second place, like in China, or fourth, like in Japan, where I had a really tough weekend. I am quite satisfied with such results in difficult weekends and hope that if everything goes smoothly this time, I will achieve victory."
