Stella: Definitely, we had a chance to win in Miami.

For the first time this season, both McLaren drivers stood on the podium on Sunday, finishing in 2nd and 3rd places, although during the Miami Grand Prix it seemed that Lando Norris could have fought for the win. The weekend's results were commented on by Andrea Stella, the team principal, on Sky Sports…

Andrea Stella: “If someone had told me before the weekend that the results would be like this, I would have gladly accepted it. It's important to remember that the start of the season was relatively poor, but we managed to respond correctly to it.

But within the team, we always said that we know what we are capable of, regardless of the results with which we start the season. I believe we are demonstrating this fully, and for that, everyone at McLaren deserves a huge thank you. We upgraded the car by implementing improvements in various areas, and this has increased our competitiveness.

But in such fierce competition, much depends on the clarity of actions, on how the racing team handles its tasks, and on many different nuances. I think Mercedes still has a slight advantage, but we have managed to improve, and that’s good, and there is still a long way to go in the championship.

Definitely, today we had a chance to win. We were pursued by a car that was a bit faster, while we were monitoring the weather conditions, but Kimi Antonelli drove his first lap after the pit stop just brilliantly! We couldn't replicate that, and we probably lost a bit of time in the pit stop as well.

Although we could have performed better, we are still very satisfied. A lot of positive things happened this weekend, and we will take all of this into account. We have returned to the leading group, and we are preparing several new developments for the next races, so interesting times await us!”
