In South Africa, work continues on the return of the Grand Prix.

In September of last year, the cabinet of ministers of South Africa approved a proposal to apply for hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Kyalami circuit from 2027 to 2029. Later, South Africa acknowledged that they would not meet the announced date and took a pause, but now they have confirmed that they will hold high-level negotiations this year. African Business quotes Sports Minister Gertan McKenzie, who announced the visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to one of the Grand Prix this season, where he will meet with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali to agree on all the details. "The president's visit will allow us to discuss the situation and strengthen our positions. We will provide details in due course, in coordination with the president's administration. There are criteria that any country must meet to host a Grand Prix – commercial, logistical, infrastructure requirements, and safety requirements. We are methodically working to meet each of them," the minister said.
