James Vowles: The damage to the car is quite serious.
Alex Albon crashed the car during the Friday practice of the Canadian Grand Prix. It turned out that the Williams driver lost control of the car after running over a groundhog. After the session, Williams team principal James Vowles explained the damage sustained by the FW48.
James Vowles: "There is a high likelihood of crashing the car – one of the risks of the Canadian track. Groundhogs are present here, which we see every year when we come here. The damage to the car is quite serious – front and rear suspension, possibly the floor, front wing.
Alex's first reaction was disappointment, as he is fast and needed to fully complete the session. I hope we managed to make a small step forward compared to Miami, which will give us a chance to fight for points.
It's no secret that we had a difficult winter, but I look at the lessons we were able to learn from it. This weekend, we managed to reduce the weight of the car a bit, as well as upgrade the rear suspension and improve the exhaust system."
