Stellantis is making significant moves because it aims to stay competitive on a global scale, and the U.S. won't be neglected in this effort.
On Thursday, Stellantis announced plans to increase its market presence in the United States by 50% by 2030, introducing 11 new vehicles that will generate 35% more production. Notably, nine of these new models will be priced below $40,000, and two will be under $30,000.
Details are sparse, but this initiative is part of the automaker's investment exceeding $41 billion in the region over the next five years.
This initiative is part of Stellantis's global turnaround strategy known as FaSTLAne 2030.
Dodge CEO Matt McLear has expressed to The Drive on several occasions his view of an "opportunity" in a basic sports car priced under $30,000. However, it remains uncertain whether this will materialize as part of the new product lineup. Currently, Dodge dealers are primarily relying on Durango sales.
In April, McLear asked The Drive, “do you need a radio?” This rhetorical question reflects his search for a simple, entry-level car. Will that be the requirement to sell a sub-$30,000 vehicle by 2026? We’ll find out soon.
On Wednesday, Ram revealed the comeback of the Rumble Bee, launching a four-truck lineup that includes a high-performance Hellcat-powered SRT model.
The future of Chrysler's lineup, which Stellantis has now categorized as a regional brand, remains uncertain. At present, the brand is represented only by the Pacifica.
Dodge is also classified as a regional brand, while Jeep and Ram coexist alongside Peugeot and Fiat as the company’s four global brands.
