F1 contemplating a harsh Christmas finale to make up for canceled races.

"After a week of rest, the season finale would take place on December 20."

Formula 1 is reportedly mulling over an unprecedented late-season calendar adjustment that could extend the 2026 season into the week of Christmas. DAZN journalist Tomas Slafer indicates that the organization is considering plans to reinstate the canceled Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, which were removed from the April schedule due to the conflict in Iran.

"The plan was always to include Saudi Arabia," Slafer mentioned during DAZN’s coverage of the Canadian GP. "Now, Formula 1 is also looking at adding the Bahrain Grand Prix."

"They are aiming to reschedule the two races that were canceled in April, but there are limited slots available on the calendar."

Under the current proposal, Bahrain would be rescheduled for October 2-4, slotting in between the Azerbaijan and Singapore races. This would result in a challenging end to the season with three consecutive triple-headers.

"The calendar would set up in such a way that following the Madrid GP and the European tour, we would encounter a triple-header consisting of Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Singapore," Slafer noted. "Subsequently, a week of rest would precede another triple-header comprising Austin, Mexico, and Brazil. Again, a week of rest would lead into another triple-header featuring Las Vegas, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia."

"After a week of rest, the season would conclude on December 20 in Abu Dhabi."

If this plan is accepted, Formula 1 would effectively conduct 10 races within a 13-week period during the final phase of the championship. Slafer cautioned that this schedule would impose significant logistical and physical demands on the teams in the paddock. "From mid-September onward, we would see 10 races in 13 weeks," he stated.

The report also noted that Formula 1 cannot officially confirm the revised calendar until there is more clarity regarding the geopolitical environment in the Middle East.
