Tim Kuniskis, known as the Father of the Hellcats, recently informed reporters that Dodge has “faced a challenging period in its product lifecycle. Last year, the brand was only selling one SUV, the Durango, and just one variant of the Charger, which was exclusively a two-door electric model.”
Kuniskis mentioned that the brand will now “shift into second gear” during Stellantis’ turnaround presentation on Thursday in Michigan. A new crossover called GLH will mark the starting point of their lineup, while another refresh for the Durango is in the works, along with SRT-branded versions of the Charger. There's also a new high-performance muscle car hinting at a design resembling a wide-body Charger equipped with a large wing, yet it seems to diverge from the Charger moniker.
“We’re going to introduce a genuine entry-level performance vehicle, a point of entry into the Brotherhood of Muscle,” Kuniskis stated. “Think of it as the next iteration of Hornet, but executed as it should have been initially.”
The vehicle will be dubbed the GLH, shorthand for Go Like Hell, and will have a price tag under $40,000. Let’s hope its reception is more favorable than that of the car that never managed to capture America’s attention.
Kuniskis didn't elaborate extensively on these upcoming Dodge models besides confirming that the Durango is indeed set for a refresh. He also did not mention the SRT-branded Chargers that are included in the company’s product strategy.
Regarding the Charger-like SRT vehicle (located bottom left of the accompanying image), its specifics remain uncertain. It features a large wing and a wide body, leading to speculation that it could be a Hellcat, although the Chargers on the bottom right of the product plan image are marked with the SRT emblem.
This raises questions about whether the Banshee will make a comeback as the top model in the Dodge lineup, potentially outpacing the returning Hellcats down the drag strip. Alternatively, could this be a new flagship model for the Hurricane I6? The Hemi might still be making its way back, but surely it can’t have all the attention, right? Only time will reveal the answers.
“Look, we’re familiar with this playbook. We created this playbook. By the completion of the plan, Dodge will literally be back on track, both literally and figuratively, and it will regain its rightful position,” said Kuniskis. “We will reclaim the title of best-selling muscle car.”
