Pierre Gasly: I bounced back after a tough weekend.
In Canada, Alpine scored points with both cars for the second time this season. Moreover, Franco Colapinto's sixth place became his best result in Formula 1. The team is pleased with the outcomes of the fifth round of the season.
Franco Colapinto (6th): "Considering the positions we started the weekend from, finishing in the top ten with both cars is an excellent result and a fantastic reward for all the team members who worked wholeheartedly. I am very proud of the work done and the great result.
This is my best result in Formula 1, which makes me even happier and is a continuation of the form we showed in Miami. We know we capitalized on our competitors' misfortunes, and that is never pleasing, but we did our best and brought the cars to the finish.
The asphalt was very slippery, and the grip was low, especially at the start and in the early laps on harder tires compared to the competitors who started next to us.
After the pit stop, I had a scary moment exiting the pit lane when I hit a wet spot, the white line, and flew towards the wall. Fortunately, the car hit the wall sideways and sustained minor damage that did not require repairs and did not affect the speed.
We still have a lot to do to become more competitive, improve the car, and close the gap to those ahead of us."
Pierre Gasly (8th): "Overall, a good team result and important points in the Constructors' Championship. For me, the race came down to minimizing damage – I recovered after a tough weekend and earned points for eighth place.
I had issues with the car again during the race, and we need to understand what they are and fix them. There is a lot of work ahead to get the car back in good shape, and that is our goal before the Monaco round.
Speaking of the race, starting on Medium tires was challenging as it was quite cold and the grip was low. But I managed to gain a few positions and put pressure on Liam Lawson closer to the finish. It was difficult to find an opportunity to overtake, and I couldn't do it, finishing eighth.
Now I am looking forward to the Monaco round. It is my favorite round of the season, so I hope we can fix some of the shortcomings and head to Monaco with more confidence and speed."
