Steiner: Toto Wolff is the main star of the Canadian Grand Prix.
Former Haas F1 team principal Günther Steiner called Toto Wolff the main star of the Canadian Grand Prix on the Red Flags podcast…
Günther Steiner: “The main star of the Canadian stage is Toto Wolff. You know why? Because he let his drivers race. He didn’t interfere, didn’t say anything. He just let them fight.
We have to give him credit. In such a position, he could have said, ‘Hey, guys, what are you doing?’ But no, he let them go, allowed them to sort things out themselves. I have no doubt that sometimes he was scared by their actions on the track, but largely thanks to him, the race turned out to be so interesting. I’m almost sure that in this way their battle will continue at least until the summer break, and even then it won’t stop, it will just become less intense.
I believe this is a higher level of competition than between the McLaren drivers last year. The McLaren drivers usually didn’t compete against each other, they just collided at some point. The Mercedes drivers are fighting as if their opponent is from another team. They are battling as intensely as is usually not the case between teammates. In my opinion, that’s just great.”
