IndyCar: Mick Schumacher crashed the car once again.

This weekend, the eighth stage of the IndyCar series is taking place on the street circuit in Detroit, and for Mick Schumacher, yesterday's qualifying ended in a crash, so on Sunday he will start the race from the second-to-last row. According to Mick, who drives for the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) team, he felt that the lap was going to be decent, but a couple of minutes before the end of the first part of qualifying, he lost control of the car exiting Turn 6 on the narrow and winding track and crashed into the barrier at Turn 7 at high speed. After the crash, Schumacher was taken to the medical center, but the examination revealed no injuries. "I brushed the wall already in Turn 6, so in Turn 7 the car was thrown to the right, after which I hit the barrier on the exit," Mick commented on Fox Sports. "Unfortunately, this happened on a lap that I thought was going well; I was going five or six tenths faster, and the car felt good. Although we faced difficulties during practice, especially since the Detroit track is very different from all the ones I have raced on before. The level of grip here is different, and it varies in different turns, and the tires behave somewhat strangely. Other drivers managed to set their best laps only towards the end of the 12-lap series. Everything went off plan for us, and I apologize to the team. Crashing the car is always bad. Unfortunately, I caused everyone extra trouble, and the mechanics have extra work ahead of them as they will be repairing the car and preparing it for tomorrow's race. It seems that the front right corner of the chassis is damaged, the floor is damaged, but let's hope that at least the gearbox and everything else is more or less okay." Schumacher was not the only one who caused red flags: David Malukas, a 24-year-old American racing for Team Penske, also crashed his car, just a week after finishing 2nd in the Indy 500. In his case, the damage was so severe that the team has to prepare a spare chassis for the race. Alex Palou won yesterday's qualifying: the Spanish driver from Chip Ganassi Racing, a four-time IndyCar champion, continues to lead confidently this season.
