"Currently, everything is progressing as planned."

Formula 1's new circuit in Madrid is on schedule for its debut in September, as confirmed by both the FIA and Madring officials. This week, the FIA conducted an inspection of the site amidst ongoing speculation about potential construction delays that could jeopardize the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the new venue. However, these concerns were dismissed by the governing body.

"As is standard practice when constructing a new Grade 1 circuit, the FIA carries out routine inspections at different phases of the project to ensure compliance with safety standards," stated an FIA spokesperson. "At the moment, everything is on track and advancing as intended. Another inspection is set for August."

Madring's general manager, Luis Garcia Abad, reaffirmed that the project is firmly on schedule. "We completed paving last week as scheduled, and the work wrapped up in accordance with the contract on May 31st, so everything is in order," he told Marca. In response to ongoing rumors about delays, Abad noted that the organizers preferred to concentrate on completed milestones. "We’ve arrived at this point by delivering what has been executed, rather than making unrealistic promises," he remarked. "The work has progressed on time."

Abad cited Carlos Sainz's recent demonstration run around the circuit as proof of readiness. "I believe that serves as solid evidence that everything is going according to plan," he stated. While temporary grandstands, fan areas, and support infrastructure are still pending completion, Abad expressed confidence in the timeline. "We shouldn’t waste any time, but with 100 days remaining, we feel quite assured about it," he mentioned.

Ticket sales are also performing well. "Currently, we’re at about 97.3 percent of our total inventory sold," Abad disclosed, indicating that attendance may surpass 120,000 spectators. The former manager of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz also feels that critics have misunderstood the nature of the new venue. "The circuit is spectacular," he asserted. "I believe it was unfairly labeled negatively with the 'another street circuit' remarks. To clarify, it’s not a street circuit; it’s a circuit located within the city."
