Aston Martin is trying to achieve a comfortable seating position for Alonso.
In Canada, Fernando Alonso was forced to retire from the race after just 23 laps – he was so uncomfortable in his car's seat that the sensations became increasingly painful.
Before the Monaco Grand Prix, Mike Krack, the racing director of Aston Martin, spoke about the measures taken by the team to ensure that the issue did not recur on the bumpy street circuit in Monaco.
"We've been here since Tuesday and have done a lot of work with Fernando, trying out many different options," Krack told RacingNews365. "So far, we see the picture in static, but when we start the practice sessions, it will be a real test, as the sensations on the move do not always match. But I think a small step in the right direction has already been made.
Fernando has developed a kind of moderate confidence that there is some improvement, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have to continue this work during practice to make him fully comfortable.
You can't change just one thing because then you have to adjust the pedal positions, readjust the seat height, the distance to the steering wheel, and all other parameters. It's a whole complex of changes, and when you don't have the opportunity to get on the track, it complicates the task a bit."
