Piastri: No significant improvements can be expected.

The weekend in Monaco did not start well for McLaren: at the very beginning of the second practice session, Lando Norris's car stopped at the exit of the tunnel, and that ended the session for the reigning world champion. As the team explained, it is clear that the technical failure was related to an electrical system malfunction, but the exact reason for this is yet to be determined.

Oscar Piastri finished the day in 7th place in the standings.

Oscar Piastri (7th): "The car felt normal, but unfortunately, it was not as fast as we would have liked. Overall, we are facing some difficulties, although we managed to make some progress before the second session, and if we were 1.5 seconds behind the leaders before, we have now reduced the gap to one second.

Of course, it wasn't the easiest day, and we have work to do in the evening to find answers to a number of questions. However, we initially anticipated that Ferrari would be fast on this track, but we hoped to get much closer to them. We'll see how much we can improve by Saturday.

We cannot expect significant improvements because in modern Formula 1, it is impossible to completely reconfigure the car between sessions, although, of course, we will try to achieve some progress, as it is very important. But personally, I don't have any interesting ideas yet on how to achieve that."

Lando Norris (19th): "A difficult day. We definitely lack speed, and we need to try to improve in all sectors of the lap. It's a shame that we had to interrupt our work today and lose time, as it's important to spend as much time on the track in Monaco. But the car just shut down, and we still need to figure out why that happened.

In the evening, we will work to try to extract more speed from the car, but realistically speaking, it will be difficult to make up ground considering our positions relative to our competitors.

I can't say I'm surprised, but we are not at the level we want to be, so we will continue to work hard to understand how we can improve, as we need to try to make up for it by tomorrow."
