This isn't the Audi R8 revival that circulates online as a rumor every six weeks. This time, it's genuine. Introducing the Audi Nuvolari, a stunning titanium-colored marvel that firmly positions Audi back in the supercar arena—and then some. In fact, it's the most powerful production model in Audi's history.
Unveiled on Thursday evening during the festivities of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, Audi's latest masterpiece is driven by a hybrid, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that generates approximately 1,000 horsepower and can rev up to 10,000 RPM. The engine is sourced from its corporate counterpart, the Lamborghini Temerario, but will deliver slightly more power. It will, however, keep the same configuration of electric motors: two axial-flux motors at the front axle and one at the rear. This setup is expected to achieve 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, a remarkable top speed of 217 mph, and an unspecified electric-only range due to its 7.3-kWh battery.

According to Chief Technology Officer Rouven Mohr, the company's participation in F1 accelerates various technologies and concepts from the racetrack to consumer vehicles—but in my view, the most striking transfer is the car’s aesthetic. The titanium finish is taken directly from Audi's F1 car, and it looks fantastic. Certainly, there are additional engineering aspects, but this is one that’s easily visible and appreciated by all.
Named after the legendary Italian racing driver Tazio Nuvolari—and building on the sleek concept from the early 2000s—the new supercar features “quattro predictive ride,” the latest version of the renowned all-wheel-drive system that utilizes torque vectoring during acceleration, cornering, deceleration, and braking, whether regenerative or not. It also includes active aerodynamics capable of producing up to 882 pounds of downforce, courtesy of a deployable rear wing with three settings: Closed, Low Downforce, and High Downforce. If you're curious about how the driver controls the wing, just look for the large button on the steering wheel.

Regarding the interior, major applause to Audi for avoiding an overload of screens on the dashboard of this beauty. While it does have a central touchscreen for basic functions and a digital gauge cluster for the driver, that’s where it ends. No passenger display, no unnecessary clutter. It has a minimalist and almost austere look, but I suspect it will be more visually appealing in person.
The new Audi Space Frame with a carbon exterior, as stated by Audi, employs the same manufacturing techniques used in F1 cars. Autoclave technology takes pre-impregnated carbon-fiber shapes and cures them under high pressure and temperature to achieve optimal structural rigidity and weight reduction. This method requires significant manual labor and expertise, as the final result will be evident in the car's aesthetics. No shortcuts here.

The Nuvolari is essentially an evolution of the Concept C (previously considered to be purely electric) that impressed last year, even down to the hue. Its arrival is timely for the brand as it aims to reconnect with enthusiasts through its F1 initiatives and now this supercar. I can't be the only one who eagerly read the announcement, worried it might feature an all-electric powertrain, only to be thrilled to see “V8.” It’s just what Audi’s lineup has been missing, though sadly, it won't be accessible to many.
Pricing hasn't been disclosed, but only 499 units will be made. It’s likely that most are already sold. Deliveries are expected to start in the first half of 2027, according to Audi.
