Cadillac reaffirms support for Bottas amid speculation.

Cadillac has once again dismissed rumors regarding Valtteri Bottas potentially losing his seat, despite the Finnish driver's challenging start to the season alongside Sergio Perez.

Speculation emerged in Montreal that Bottas was facing pressure due to consistently being outperformed by Perez, with some reports even suggesting that Cadillac might consider replacing him before the end of the season.

Team principal Graeme Lowdon quickly refuted those claims, and Cadillac executive Dan Towriss has now done the same.

When directly asked in Monaco about the security of Bottas’ future, Towriss was clear. "We’re very confident to have Valtteri on the team," he stated. "We hold him in the highest regard. And just to clarify, there have been no talks about Valtteri’s performance affecting his future with the team."

Towriss emphasized that Cadillac remains fully dedicated to the 10-time grand prix winner. "We’re committed to Valtteri, and Valtteri is committed to us," he added.

The American noted that some of the performance gap to Perez can be attributed to the evolving nature of Cadillac’s car. "We need to continue to improve downforce on the car, and every driver perceives that differently," Towriss explained. "Progress isn’t always a straight path. What Checo feels today is progress, and I’m confident that Valtteri will reach that level very soon."

Nevertheless, Cadillac is keeping its long-term options open. When asked about plans for the 2027 driver lineup, Lowdon refrained from making any promises. "Considering everything we need to accomplish in the team, we have a lengthy list to address," he mentioned. "We are extremely pleased with the drivers we have and the work they're doing."

"There’s no updates from me regarding the drivers."

One name being prepared for a future in Formula 1 is American driver Colton Herta.

Although Lowdon recently dismissed rumors of Herta replacing Bottas immediately, he confirmed that the IndyCar star is still engaged in a dedicated Formula 1 development program. "He’s made it very clear that he wants to be in Formula 1," Lowdon stated. "To achieve that, he must learn constantly - and that’s what he’s doing."

The Cadillac boss indicated that Herta will participate in Formula 1 practice sessions later this year. "He has his program," Lowdon remarked. "He’ll be in the car for some free practice sessions this season. We’ll see how that unfolds."
