Gabriel Bortoleto: I let the team down
Audi's best result in the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying was the thirteenth place on the grid for Nico Hülkenberg. His teammate Gabriel Bortoleto also made it to the second part but was unable to participate due to crashing the car at the end of the first session.
Nico Hülkenberg (13th): "Of course, I am disappointed with today's qualifying result. Before the start of this session, the situation looked more promising, so it's a shame we couldn't secure a higher starting position.
In my final attempt, I was hindered a bit by traffic, but that's one of the characteristics of qualifying in Monaco, and there was nothing I could do about it.
Overall, the car had damage, which didn't help either. In any case, we expected to be more competitive, so we need to analyze everything and understand how much it affected our speed.
Tomorrow will be a tough race considering the starting position, but in Monaco, opportunities can always arise, so it's important to stay focused and make the most of any chance."
Gabriel Bortoleto (16th): "I apologize to the team. They are doing a great job this weekend and deserve to see our car in the top ten. Unfortunately, I let the team down today.
We had the pace to fight for the top ten, but I took too many risks in the first session and hit the barrier in the chicane. This led to suspension damage, and my qualifying ended there. Such a mistake could be understood in the final when you're pushing to the limit, but not in the first session.
Starting position is critically important in Monaco, and we knew this well before qualifying. I understand that tomorrow will be tough, but our pace has been encouraging all weekend, so we will continue to fight and try to gain as many positions as possible."
